its not harsh its an opinion based on that photo, how many miles has this setup now done?

the set up has done nothing yet, but its in the car and theres no problems with it fouling or coming into contact with any of the parts you mentioned etc etc blah blah.

like it; dont like it i dont really care as long as it works really and i think arrons pick up turbo ran this set up on his engine so thats at least one anyway.

If your happy with that, but as wolf has said it dosnt look neat, and while it is off why not do it properly. that hose of yours, I hope it's coated inside as oil eats silicone in time so one day that will split and dump your oil everywhere, if you are going too keep your setup I would recommend changing it to a rubber hose at the very very least.

The speedo cable is unef I believe - but it doesn't matter as the bit it screws to is just a push fit in the casing (held in by the Y shaped yoke thingy.

You ought to be able to bang a drain through the engine end plate into the timing chain cover - wouldn't be surprised if that's how the inline A & B Series boys do it?

i really do wonder if people bother reading what i have written or just post blindly.

the hose as previously mentioned is oil resistant http://www.apmotorst...l-oil-hose.html although that picture doesn't probably do me much justice in how its set up; i don't just do stuff to bodge things and do logically try to think things through and if anything had been an issue i would change it (and do know what i'm doing, with some reading). but i'll see how it works for now.

if i end up doing it again and had more time and money i would probably look at other ways if i'm honest.

No one is saying you bodging anything and i can only go on the picture that you have posted, obviously the picture is not 3 dimensional hense the questions.

My concern is with something happening with the hose that will cause loss of oil pressure and a damaged engine so i think that a good discussion is valid considering the implications.

Would it not be easy to drill and tap the gearbox casing, near the top flange, and fit a barbed fitting?

something like this :

As by the looks of taz's photo, the oil drain would have to come out of the turbo and go up into the fuel pump hole. Not ideal I think.

Also I can't realy see what's wrong with taz's setup, he's used an oil resistive pipe, and feeds back down into the sump. Whats wrong with that?

No one's slaggin him off just saying their opinion on what they've seen in the photo, plus he's being pretty defensive when other people have asked questions about his set-up

I think this solution is fine. Why would it be anymore prone to failure than any other solution.

Most minis have water pipes running everywhere rubbing on all bits of the engine and I've never seen one holed.

i'm willing to answer any questions about it as i have done and maybe i am being a bit defensive but wouldn't you if someone had stated that they thought what you had done was a bodge and if you read up wolfie did say that. so forgive me for not agreeing with the bodge comment lol

Woah, wasn't aware this had turned into a heated debate >_<

Some good comments however, Ethel you have an interesting idea also, so will look into that..

I've just acquired a T2 off of ebay, freshly rebuilt so once i buy the mirage manifolds i can have a little fiddle around and see what will work best.

Thanks for all the input guys

Another quick question

Got my T2 the other day, just been having a gander at it, and noticed there is no take off on the compressor housing for the vacuum tube to the actuator as in the picture below

Posted Image

Is there another point i can take this vacuum off for the actuator?
