what is the best head replacement for a 1275 (1300 metro lump one)?

is it worth changing or is it better to have it pocketed and skimmed or polished?

Are they the same head as a standard 1275?

Is it worth me changing my cam? if so which one?

Just want to be clear on what to look out for, because im getting all confused about it aha!

Thankyou

HI,

MY understannding is that they are esentially the same units. The 1275 you have could vary depending un whether it was a standard 1.3 Metro or an MG (or HLE as well I think) variant. If that be the case then the head will be differant as will the cam.

It is worth keeping in mind that the RSP coopers from the early 90's had what were essentially MG Metro engines in - it's what mine came from.

Somewhere on the forum there is an engine identifier which will tell you what the engom was built in if you provide the engine number.

Hope this helps.

It's the number you posted above. The first part is the engine build code, the second part is the engine serial number. I've deleted it from your post above because it's part of the information someone would need to ring your car and so not a good idea to publish.
