It can be done but there is not much point. A lot of fuss and hassle for another small engine! You would have to modify the subframe and drive shafts, then chop up the loom to splice then make sure everything fits it would just be a headache. The best place to ask would be the 16vMF but i think the majority of their opinions would be the same as mine. I'd just stick with a mini lump unless you want serious horse power!ive seen the posts on people fit KA dashes into their mini's but has anyone fitted the engine into one, just curious to know.

Haggz, yes you can fit them in a mini, you have to do a bit of chopping around the edges but you can do it. Have to do a search as I know it was done recently.

why go with the KA engine, try get hold of a 1.7 puma engine as they have more bhp than the 2 litre zetec does
fairly popular conversion with the ford boys
+1
My mate has done a few Mk4 Fiesta, Puma 1.7 swaps and they do go very well. He also bought an accident damaged Racing Puma which went very well once it was repaired again.

Again and again, only had a few bits of metal in them and they turn against you.

why would you? the KA engine is a million year old design, it dose not fit in a KA, it never works properly. its built my ford
its properly worse engine ford has ever made, and i mean ever made, i wouldn't even think of trying this convertion if you can call it that
A Series = GOOD
Ecotec engine = bad
Bob Cat Ka engine = VERY DIEABOLICA

now im sorry but that is nothing but rubbish, that engine is a kent desgin from the late 60s and has been used it fords from then upto about 01/02 and is a brilliant engine the old carb based ones are quieter and dont rattle as much the only reasson the injection system was fitted was for emissions i belive. i did some were read an article about a comparison between this engine and the a serise and the ford engine is a better engine i think there was something metioned about tuning these and the ford was capable of 140bhp per liter and the a serise struggles at 100bhp per liter (dont qoute me on these im struggling to remember the exact figure) the ford is a crossflow and has a stronger bottom end.
i drove a standard 1.3 mk1 fiesta a few months ago in completly standard trim and compeared to a 1275 mini it was miles more powerful more tourque, the only think i would say was it struggled to get 35/40mpg but this was a carb version and the later injection stuff is just a quick but abit better on fuel.

What and an A series is modern by comparison.I thought Mosses knocked up the A series while he had nothing to do on the ark.Totally agree on why you would even consider putting a ka in a Mini though.ive seen the posts on people fit KA dashes into their mini's but has anyone fitted the engine into one, just curious to know.
