Hi guys,

ive been given this 50cc Quad, which is for big kids and not adults, but that wont stop me playing when its running etc.

On the side of the quad it say:
e-ton and Sanyco, but i cant seem to find anything. Theres lots on the E-ton Viper quads but not anything which looks like this one. heres acouple pics if you can help.

You will probably find it is a derivation of a pretty standard Chinese quad. take a look at the engine and see if it has a brand name on it. In our experience we found that most eastern imports used the same basic parts from the same factories and were pretty much interchangeable parts wise. most of the differences were with the frame and the bodywork. a look around ebay will show a good supply of generic spares for these things.

Basically when you bought in a container load of bikes, you got a deal giving you something like 10% value of order, of Free spare parts to enable you to backup your service. The downside of this was that most of these parts were not commonly needed parts, therefore you will find a plethora of these unwanted parts on ebay dirt cheap. You can probably buy a spare engine for silly money if you look hard enough.

A lot of these bikes had a copy of the Honda C50/70/90 engine and an original Honda engine will bolt right in.

I hope this helps.

EDIT.

things to watch out for are: quality of bearings, bushes and nuts and bolts. Welding on the frame is usually pretty poor, paint and chrome is usually not too good either.
Nothing usually fits very well and on PDI we used to have to do a lot of fettling to get things to work properly. We stopped trading with them due to the poor quality of build and found a manufacturer that listened to our comments and made improvements.

This was also the case with imported eastern built Golf carts. The prices were good, but the quality of build took a while to get improved. I will however backup my beliefs that Chinese goods are not always rubbish, as long as you find a good manufacturer who listens. Just turn your laptop over and look at the Manufacturers country of origin. Most will say China :)

Come on, admit you turned over your laptop >_<

lmao i turned

many thanks for that. will get myself out tonight after work and have a closer look at the engine.

so a Honda C50/70/90 engine will fit in with no changes required to the chassis. if this is the case will be checking out the prices of them. the quads been left in a field for acouple years and was found again when cutting back a over grown heged on my friends farm.

He said it had no spark thats why it was left there. easy enough i guess to work out but did they suffier with anything failing do you know?

lol I remember my mates 50cc mini bike thing, I think that had the same engine and he had a problem with the spark. Can't remember how he fixed it now, but it happend after he cleaned it, think it fixed itself lol
I had a 140cc bike that was a import was pretty decent, the quality was about as good as it gets without buying a xsport bike. If you need somewhere to ride it, watnall brickyard (sort of near hucknall) used to be open on Sundays £5 all day, was a brilliant day out, was 4 of us on bikes riding around like looneys lol

I apologise if i may have inadvertantly misled you re the Honda engines! i was speaking generally and not specifically for your quad. Basically what i meant was that you will find most chinese or eastern import quads are copies of most popular brands, so replacing parts can be quite easy.

Find out what make the engine is and then search ebay for something that looks similar, then you will know what to look out for regarding spares.

If it is a no sparker, its quite likely to be the coil or ignitor. these are also pretty generic parts so finding replacements should be a doddle. I may even still have some in stock at my lockup.

I hope i have made this a bit clearer and not confused you.

I had a cheap chinese import quad...it was a Kington 200cc.
Bought it brand new for £995 and it only lasted a year to be honest although it was well used...bearings broke every couple of months and had welds snap twice on me. The speedo also packed up on it and it the end was leaking oil everywhere!! You do get what u pay for i guess.

eton is an actual make of quad i do belive you can get spares for them easily enough as for spark problems have you cheaked the plug ? and have you checked the coil as this was the problem i had on my rm changed both and it worked fine

Good point about the spark plug! cheap imported plugs are a common failure on these things!

Spare parts are available too!

Spares!
