I was going to buy an engine from Smart Performance but because of all the bad press i decided not too. This is a clear example of what one sided stories do for a companies reputation and the effect it can have on potentially new customers.
All it takes is one person who has had an engine rebuild to rev its nuts off and the engine blows and boom!
The company will then be tarnished for making duff engines! When the the company refuses to refund the customer as it is their fault the engine has blown, the customer goes to the internet, the good reputation is soon forgotten about and the company are labelled as crooks!
This might not be the case but after reading this thread it pretty much shows that the company has lots of fans and happy customers! - the unhappy customers must be hidden in their caves.

i say whats done has been done. And its up to smart performance to keep doing a good job and then his reputation will build up and turn around.
I hope so, after all, the more mini specialists, the better !!!
I was reading that someone put a link on ebay about Stan Stephens (highly respected 2 stroke tuner of 30 years) because one of the engines he built blew up! We all make mistakes, what differs is the way we put things right!
Good luck Smart Performance, I've read both threads, you have many happy customers, but people are 10x as likely to share a bad experience than they are a good one!

We discussed it at length at the time of the original thread which wasn't too many months ago and decided as a team it was best to remove the trader status and not allow him to continue using TMF to sell items. We do not endorse any traders or sellers but we do reserve the right to limit people's access to the classifieds section if we receive enough genuine complaints about them to help protect fellow mini owners. So far we haven't reinstated anyone that has been banned, they are free to advertise their services elsewhere and rebuild their reputation but the ban continues on TMF.
People can advertise their services free of charge on here and it is a privilege for them to use the Traders section to gain customers, if they then go on to use this section to sell faulty products or their service causes enough members to complain we will revoke their right to use it.
