There were mid engined/ bike engined minis way before Z cars were doing them

David, I am aware that people were making rear/mid engined minis for a long time before Zcars were....

 

My reasons for saying so are because what little I can see of the frame looks like the work of the minitec lot, who I am pretty sure before working on a guys Zcars mini (Simba on the K20 forum) had never produced a rear engined mini, plus the exhaust setup is virtually identical to a Zcars exhaust, hence the statement of "Blatantly a Zcars rip off".

I went away and did some research into this car, turns out it is made by minitec as they posted the video and make the claim of it being theirs on facebook:

Im not a fan of Minitec.. had some problems with them ignoring my phone calls and emails when they were suposed to refund me for some parts...

cpt Kirk how does your mini handle it's power? 

 

I had dreams of a turbocharged rear mini but now i'm thinking NA might be more than enough power. lol.

I have no problems with mine putting the power down, the minitec car has a fibreglass shell by the look of it which isnt going to help with wheelies. I am guessing that it was combination of a big ole dump of the clutch and 400+ horse power?!?! couldnt tell you what charger they were using but it looked to have an air to air intercooler by the roof.

LSMOC @ Goodwood 11th Aug 2014 - 98db static, 96db drive by.

 

Car feeling very choked due to extra silencer work as shown in my build diary, I was two's up with my good buddy Jim in the car and still managed only 0.7 slower than my fastest lap in May. Difference this time was that I took the time to sort my tyre pressures properly, hot = 22psi....first lap is a bit interesting as the nearside rear comes up to temperature but by the second lap you can get on it more.....

 

I only got black flagged once for noise and was hoofing most of the day, well, when it was dry anyway, there were some interesting moments in the wet morning sessions, coming round St Mary's, up the rise towards Lavant Corner to see a literal wall of water and the rain bouncing a good foot off the tarmac.....Oh Bejesus....

 

These videos are of the two fastest laps of the day, Lap 22 (video 031) was a 1:38:58, Lap 23 (video 032) was 1:38:67 (0.09 difference)

 

The Harry's Laptimer App on the phone seems to go awry at St. Mary's, going invest in a stand alone GPS for next time (Dual SkyPro XGPS160)

Also posted in my build diary - Fastest lap from Goodwood on Monday 1:34:11 - a much more respectable time, more than 3.5 secs shaved off my last outing. No mods since last outing, all a case of watching video playback and working out where I needed to grow a pair....later braking and slightly higher corner speeds all add up.
