After finally removing the driveshafts today and stripping the engine bay down i've hit another problem...

The roll pin joining the gear linkage up to the gearbox isnt budging :)

The pin itself is at a very bad angle so i cannot get the correct side to punch it out, but i was wondering if you could hit it the other way out?

Is there any other way of getting this pin out?

Thanks for your support

Select reverse and you'll be able to punch it through.

I usually have the car in neutral and one of the roll pins is at a better angle/position to the other and should come out after a good hammering. I think when looking at the front of the car you need to knock it towards the 11 o clock position. Never really tried it in any other gear so that could work as HUBBA.HUBBA suggests.

Or if you are (un)lucky it'll drop out when you're doin' 60 and trying to change down a gear approaching traffic lights :)

I used mine last night, best thing I've ever bought at a show.

I did have a hack at it yesterday and, funnily enough my mate (who's nickname is chuck norris) had a go aswell.

Chuck Norris has been defeated by a roll pin!!

ive got one of those mini spare pin punch, i dont really have a gear when doing it, its which ever one works out easiest on that day, i just keep hitting until it goes, and when i replace it i put a cable tie through it oo ensure it doesnt come out while driving.

The thing whit the gear being in reverse is that the shaft is more inside thus more suported by gearbox housing. I've read this somewhere before.
I've always done this in reverse gear with an old 5mm dril bit and some carefull and patience. But take the Wil_h advice and buy that tool.
