If the front one is stuck that bad, take out the other pin.
Bashing away at it will only distort the bore in the gearbox and then no matter what, you can be guaranteed it will always leak oil.

i used a punch and a lot of moving the gear stick to find the right angle, if i remember one of the gears pulls it out alot and rotates it

Yeah. I use single, measured blows. Reposition your parallel punch each time.

I am going to cut the rod with an angle grinder. I have tried to drill it and the bit broke inside the pin. Had enough. Beast time.
Having said that, I can't find the gear change rod to replace in minispares. Can it be purchase on its own or do i need to buy a new gear box (hope not)

Of course you may struggle for room and lack of hands...... I'm just thinking out loud really.

It might be feasible to cobble together some sort of press. G Clamp, little socket, and a nail.

I've used Wiggy's method in the past successfully but found it may take a bit of time getting the socket in the right place without it flying off. I've since modified a G-Clamp by cutting a slot in the fixed end so the roll pin passes through as the clamp, with a suitably sized pin, is tightened.
Which reminds me, I have to get it back off my mate.
Good luck.

I like the sound of that!

Dunno if they are still available, but someone was offering a 'pin press' for removing these pins in situ on a Mini.
