The bills the difference between doing it yourself and scouting around for deals and parts...
The garage will go to one place, pay trade, dump on a mark up and a number of hours labour.. That's how they make their money...
It's an unfortunate circumstance of having a mini as the primary vehicle, and needing it to be reliable. Sometimes you have to bit the bullet and pay someone to do it.
Unlucky Dom, but hope you're back on the road soon

Good advice for those who have there car as a daily drive, when you go for an mot ask for an advice sheet for next years mot and during the year source the parts required and get them fitted. Im doing this at the moment as i require my rear subframe rebuilding as well as the rear radius arms and brakes.
Got a spare set of radius arms and everything i require which also helps alot when your mini is a daily drive as you can build up the subframe and then unbolt and re-attach it (if you dont come across problems) alot quicker.

I can't believe I am gonna say this again but...........
This goes for everyone, not just Dom! Take your car for it's MOT well in advance of the ticket running out. Take it in up to a month before and if it passes they WILL back-date the ticket (so you have a 13 month MOT, providing you have the old certificate so they can copy the number).
If it fails, you have a month left on yer old ticket to put the car right!!!
It's a win-win situation (unless it fails so badly that it takes more than a month to fix) :fear:
