Hi all,

Im just doing a little research on what final drive to fit.

Ive been on the internet using the speed/rpm calculators and with the wheels/tyres im using ( 175/50/13 ). and a 3.4 FD, 70mph will be at 3000 rpm in 6th gear which i think is roughly what most modern cars are like.

Ive looked on the internet for a 3.4 with no joy.

Is it even possible to get a 3.4 FD for a Honda K20a2 ??? and if so where from ???

The car will be used mainly on the road and i would like it cruise on the motorway at a comfortable rpm.

Any suggestions??

thanks

Chris

cptkirk has a 3.9 which I think is the lowest you can get, I think he got it from Z-Cars for about £750, I went for a 4.052 from www.clubrsx.com for $500.

The 4.0 from CRSX will do you just fine and is a bargain price compared to mine, plus its readily accessible, no minimum batches of machining and all that malarky.

This is another site I found for working out your ratios:

http://ctny.audiworl.../gear_calc.html

Heres a link for the gear ratios of the K20a2 g-box:

http://hondaswap.com...on-specs-29132/

With those wheels and tyres it gives you a theoretcial top speed of 180mph - we both know it'll never do it but still......

82mph @ 4000rpm - not bad....

If you go for the Club RSX version you will also need to order a different needle bearing for the countershaft as it's 40mm not 35mm, I've just found this out whilst fitting mine.

I'm part way through fitting it, the final drive gear is fitted and all the gears are swapped on the countershaft just waiting for the replacement bearing, which will probably be the hardest bit as I've got to work out how to remove the old one. Hopefully it'll go back together as easily as it came apart!!
