You don't want reverse rims for this, you want Cooper S rims. They are not the same thing contrary to popular belief, there is a lot of confusion about this but the Cooper S rims are designed to keep within the bodyline when fitted over S discs. Having said that, it's unlikely you'll want to use original size tyres so you might still have some tread protruding.

I am aware of the difference in the offset. I just really like the look of the steels with some lip showing >_<

In that case you had better go out and buy some wheel arch extensions of suitable width.

What is the law on this? I have 4.5" OEW Alloys with 165/70/10 tyres on Cooper S spacers, hence a little bit sticks out:

Would that be deemed illegal?

Look down at the wheel from above the arch. If you can see tread (NOT sidewall, rim, kerbing bead, shoulder or anything else - just tread) then it's not legal. Well that's the ruling everyone works to anyway. I saw it written down somewhere official once years ago but haven't been able to find it again since whenever anyone asks for proof.

That's exactly what my '64 rally 'S' has and in 16 years it has never failed scrutineering or given me a problem with the Old Bill.
