im at swansea met uni, and they do foundation courses for pretty much all of the courses that they do, you get the full loan and grants, (and bursaries if you qualify for any) so it really is a real taste of uni life! well worth reading up on, a few of my mates did the foundation course, one decided the course wasnt for him, but because hed done the foundation, he could swap courses to one he liked, because the foundation course was the same for a number of the courses! i think the foundation for the engineering courses consited of science (physics really) maths and then some CAD CAM and maybe a few other smaller things related to the course! so you can see your only learning what you need to know rather than everything in the A level course!

WOW, thanks for all the advice guys and gals, I have been thinking about it today and looking into it a little (im going to be tired at work tonight :/ ) and i am going to ring around uni's/ search around on the net and will deffinitely be doing a foundation year. I have fairly good grades in maths and science from GCSE because i just found them easy, thats quite lucky really because its engineering i want to do . I had a quick look at bristol uni because that is supposed to be good but they dont do a foundation year on my course but sheffield do and also another uni but cant remember of the top of my head. I am going to look around more on friday as thursday is my last night at work.
I cant remember who it was that mentioned to ring round to try to get into a less desireable uni, but i think it will be better to do a foundation year at a better known uni as i beleive employers do look at what uni you was at.
Once again cheers for all the advice.

once you have your full degree your foundation wont really be relevant! so doesnt make much difference where you do that! a more undesireable uni may be a better option because the uni fees may well be cheaper and your getting the same thing!

ooh so its possible to do the foundation at one uni then do the rest at another uni, i was planning on doing it all at the same uni because you then get to know people, but if i did it at lincoln ( i haven't looked if i can yet) i will be able to work fri, sat, and sunday nights where i work so i will still be able to finish the mini . Obviously finishing the mini isn't one of the most important things to consider its just a plus point if i can get it finished
