im welding all big holes up and drill a few 6mm holes in the outer cill and a couple in the innere and pump full of wax oil till it drips out! and leaving the jacking points out i think as they seem to make everything rot quicker.... i do fancie getting tube with 5-6mm wall and about 25-30mm id and welding it to some 3-5 mm plate then to the inner cill facing out and using them as jacking points with a bmw jack...

Yea I was going to leave them out but they act as bracing so I've heard so I'm just going to weld over the top of the jacking hole hopefully that will stop it rotting

yeah you could do but remember you need ventilation in the sills for condensation

well uncovered her today to asses the boot floor, well.......
both corners from inside after a attack with the hammer....
as said before ns rear quarter at the back needs sorting as well as hinge panel and under both lights....
boot lid looks ok tho ...
so what i could really do with is finding out how thick you guys make the rear subframe mounting point in the boot as i started cutting mine up and at that point mine look like it has a minimum of 3 layers both sides.....
ive ordered a welding helmet off ebay too so i canb fit these.. or try lol
also got 2 of these to try and fit electric windows to it..

Hi mate, nice project.
Just thinking about your comment about the layers of metal and the valance closing panels in the photo. The full/genuine closing assembly has a floor stiffener/reinforcing plate - click here for a picture.
Whereas your closing panels dont' seem to have the reinforcement section. Suggest therefore that you need to add a reinforcement panel of sufficient size and thickness (>1mm) that goes between the subframe trunnions and the valance closing panels. I think the load from the subframe is carried by the floor-wheelarch stiffener and the valance closing assembly rather than the boot floor itself - which is far too flimsy.
Regards,
Bob
