There are a few threads on the forum about what to look out for when buying a mini if you do a search you should find some! I'd put some links up, but i'm on here on my phone and dunno how to!

omg another lady member
Welcome
Loving the edit I get the feeling that there aren't many female forum members on here...
Now do I get a prize for having (what appears to be) the longest welcome thread? All prizes consisting of pink sparkley minis will be greatfully received

Oh thank God! Hello!
Girlie question...do you do the work on your mini yourself, or do you get someone to do it for you? I'm good with the day-to-day care of my current car (which is unfortunately not a mini, but a Skoda Octavia), but the idea of doing bodywork etc scares me a little. I am willing to learn though...as well as taking full advantage of my employee discount at a local garage.

I've done a fair few things on my Mini - Timing Chain, Wheel Bearing, New Brakes, Service, New cooling system ... that sort of thing! I'm currently doing the bodywork on my Mini & have help with engine removal!
Oh, and I'm quite well practised at chopping the front ends off!
If you can do things on the Octavia, you should be fine on the Mini! Promise!

Get someone to show you what's involved in welding and give it a go - It's amazing! I really enjoy it!

Fab...just nice to know that there are girls out there who can do things to cars other than drive them! My dad is already digging out his old Haynes manual ready to help me. He rebuilt a Mini about 20 years ago, and is dying to have another go. Plus I'm sure that my uncle and cousins will help out - they're all Mini obsessed.
Joneseyboy - I've seen that one. Lovely car, but too far away at the moment for me to go check it out. I think my serious Mini buying days are going to have to wait until I'm free during the summer holidays. I should be lesson planning, but I think Mini-hunting sounds much more fun

Me and my mate both got mpi's, but we're both around to lend a hand if needs be.
