I think the battery is a little low with how much the starter motor has been going, and i only ever get bout 9.5 even when the battery is fully charged from other things eg the lights, i did check the earth and there was continuity on that aswell, is there any way of testing the pump. If the pump is gone is there any point in replacing it with a higher spec pump or just stay standard?

You could try running power direct to the pump from a good battery and listen to see if it runs or not.A poor battery could be enough to prevent starting

hi
before you power the pump, first fit a new fuel filter .(could be blocked or the wrong one)

make sure you have a 10 amp inline fuse, leave it run and hold the fuse,
if it starts getting hot or blows stop.
remove the pump take a look at the filter on the foot for any blockage.

After many hours and worked out that there was no damage to the cable and the live feed was all ok, found out there was a dodgy earth and thats what was stopping the power, but i dont understand why this would blow the fuse :s

Thanks for all the help from everyone who commented.
