Hi there, i'm new to all this. I'm mini mad and got the bug. i own a 1964 1071 s and treat it as one of the family. Since i've been tinkering with it my dad has helped me and has brought back some memorys on his mk3 cooper s, reg is UNT 992J. He called it nelly, because everytime it rained, it broke down. Can you help me trace it? he'd love to know what happened to it.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
many thanks

Have you tried searching on the DVLA site. You check whether a car is still on the road, SORN'd etc.

MM usless DVLA!!!
got this back from them!
'Thank you for your email.
When researching 'older' vehicles (which may or may not still be in use), it may be helpful to discover if they are currently licensed, or when they were last licensed.
We have a dedicated 'vehicle check' service on our website whereby you can quote the registration mark and make of a vehicle, and we can supply you with (amongst other details) the date that the vehicle was last taxed. This may provide some clues as to the vehicle's current status. The relevant website address is:
www.direct.gov.uk/taxdisc
Please note that the information supplied will be of a non-personal nature.
I should explain that DVLA's records do not form a public register. Information may be released free to the Police and the local authorities in the investigation of an offence or decriminalised parking contravention and for a fee to a third party who has sound reason for requiring it.
The situation you have described in your email is not considered a valid reason for releasing keeper name and address details.
DVLA cannot forward non-DVLA mail on to registered keepers.
I am sorry that I can not offer a more favourable reply.
Regards
Judith George

Chances are that if its an old mini, the owners probably get one of the mini magazines so why don't you write explaining about your old fella to the mags with a pic of the car if you have one and see if you get any response from the owner.
