So I went to get my tracking done this morning, and the first thing the bloak says to me is "Did you have this silly exhaust on the car when it was MOT'D?"

Rather anoyed after spending a few quid on a full Maniflow system, I asked him if that would affect the tracking and told him to get on with it.

Anyway he was quite adament that the exhaust would be a failure as it sticks out from the rear of the car further than the bumper.

Here is a pick of the offending Tail pipe.

Sorry about the angle of the pic, but it does stick out an inch or so more than the bumper.

Any one got any ideas on moveing it further back? Ive loosened the clamps and pushed all the joints in as far as they will go, but it still sticks out.

Or is this bloak talking

There is nothing in the MOT to say that is a failure, but it does look a bit off and should sit further back.

I have had to trim the manifold before to make it sit right.

I'd be tempted to ask the opinion of an mot tester! The bloke sounds miserable, probably didn't get it last night

This is what you call a protruding exhaust http://imgur.com/a/XmhYl#gGGjf
And as said it mentions nothing about it in the MOT manual http://www.ukmot.com/6-3.asp

Strangely I was pulled by a copper the once for not having a rear bumper fitted, his opinion was someone could have snagged their lower legs on my exhaust. This would have left me open for litigation. He said any sharp or protruding parts of the car that could cause injury must be removed.

Sharp or pretruding objects could be interprited as that.

Is it a van exhaust?

Yes but is it a van exhaust fitted to 'that'? They have a longer tailpipe. Is it on an LCB? Dit you cut the front pipe down enough?

I know I took an inch or so off the front end of my link pipe to stop it looking like it was stuck out as much.

Obviously they have never snagged his of her leg on the bumper of a mini then.

I was always under the impression that any exhaust is not permitted to extend past the bumper? Anything in the MoT tester's manual?

Sorry i miss-understood the question. No, Its not a van exhaust. At least I hope it isnt. I would have hoped the people at Maniflow would send the correct item. I told them when ordering the system what it was going to be fitted to, In fact the guy told me it would be the same as the one on his own car, as the engine specs are very similar. So do you reckon this is the wrong thing they have sent. Or am I being stupid. Do these Maniflow exhausts and LCB'S really need to be cut and modified before you fit them to your car?

It could be deemed to be a risk - buty at least it has a rolled edge to it - not sharp.. I would leave well alone - but eventually you will snag your ankle on it, and then you WILL shorten it!
