I was always under the impression that any exhaust is not permitted to extend past the bumper? Anything in the MoT tester's manual?

Dont know why I bother sometimes.
This is what you call a protruding exhaust http://imgur.com/a/XmhYl#gGGjf
And as said it mentions nothing about it in the MOT manual http://www.ukmot.com/6-3.asp

When's its next mot due?

Pop in to the place you're going to use a couple of weeks before the mot and ask them if it's ok! This isn't a guaranteed method as you may not get the same tester, but it should give you an indication as to whether it'll be an issue!

Did the bloke who was doing the tracking say whether the exhaust would affect it?

If the exhaust on a Mini does not protrude a little beyond the bumper line, there is a good posability that exhaust gasses will get drawn into the car. This is because of the way the air tumbles over the car. One reason why when suffereing from exhaust fumes in the car, replacing the boot seal sometimes sorts that out.

The standard mini exhaust protrudes just a little beyond the bumper line. Obviously not by a ridiculous amount.
