If they can't afford to restore a mini I don't know how they expected to restore the other cars!! I presume its probably more a case of the owners arguing with someone over how they want it restored, or by who, etc!

Well as i have already mentioned, i have emailed the bbc, and have had this reply so far;

EXACTLY. thats what i'm saying. Wouldn't YOU like to be part or restoring the winning car from monte carlo?

It wasn't the winning 1964 Monte Car.
It was a 1963 team car mind and unusally when it was sold off from the Abingdon team car never competed again.
Thats why its such a special car - its a timewarp car.

Probably because out of the 3 of the presenters on top gear
The hamster would be the only one that would fit in a mini and still be able to drive it LOL :tongue:

oh bit of news, well kinda. My mate Roger know a guy who did all the electrics for lucas a while back and was asked to do the electrics for paddys restoration car. hopefully if we can get hold of him, he might have a clue abuot its whereabouts.

Clarkson has actually written an introduction to a book on the mini, think its "All You Need To Know About; The A Sereis"

ok well its taken time but ive found out a little bit of info.

my mate roger knows Basil Wales, ex-head of Special tuning Dept. for the rallye teams.
He saw him the other week and the topic of this car came up.

Basil said that the BBC wanted to bodge it up and use non-original pannels etc etc and heritidge came into it and all that, but basically as someone said, its sat waiting for something to be done!

Maybe its time i wrote to Mr.Clarkson AGAIN!
