I don't actually know, I know very little about wheels and tyres. I just want deep 12's that stick out as far as possible! I would like some response to the question about spacers though, because I think the extra 0.5-1 inch could make such a massive difference to the width!

i dont understand how some look wider than others though?
Apart from the picture angles making some look wider than normal you can actually get normal 12x6 and 12x6 deepdish
My 12x6 deepdish with standard rover plastic arches
Normal 12x6 would still stick out aswell so they aint legal-ish definitely don't use plastic arches, group arches differ between suppliers just to complicate things further for ya

What's the widest arches that 12x6 deepdish will fill do you think?

Hard to say, so many arches out there so one companies group 2 race may differ from another? you've also got the later (86 onwards) with the wider track so some pictures may look a bit different, it all gets a bit confusing sometimes but heres some more pics to pick your brain

So basically I need to find some deep dish 12x6 alloys, stick some spacers on (views anyone?) and then pick arches to suit! Then I will have it as wide as I can get it.

the huddersfield 6x12" supperlites have a softline lip (which is a raduis) which gives the impression of a deeper lip than the standard angled lip.

it all about the offset of the wheel, the superlights in my pic were the deepest and the biggest offset i could find!!!

i dont fully understand the 'offset' i tried to read a definition of it the other day and i was still baffled!!
can someone explain it to a 5-10 year old? then i might stand a chance! haha!!

Offset is the difference between the mounting point of the wheel (where the wheel nuts go) and the centre line of the wheel. If the mounting point is on the centre line then you have zero offset, if the mounting point is towards the inside of the centre line you have negative offset (as found in deep dish wheels) and if the mounting point is towards the outside of the centre line you have positive offset
Personally, I wouldn't use spacers with wheels that have a large negative offset (i.e. deep dish wheels). If you're buying new wheels why not go for 7" ones if you want wider than 6"??

aaaahhhh seee, it now makes sense! thanks!!
well, i would go for 12x7, but ive never seen any?! i dont want to go for 13's because i hear a lot of people saying they are too big, and in a little 998 would kill it! plus i still want to try and get it nice and low (ideally i would go 10x6 so i could get it really low, but cant really afford the 7.5 disc set up!)
