Don't often hear about engines being acid dipped just the bodywork, the only thing I can see is all the machined surfaces becoming etched, so may need re-machining, this being both ends of the block, the deck, oil filter mounting flat and some more bits on the bottom.

You still have to remove all the oil gallery plugs and clean every surface and oriface whether you acid dip it or not.

My machine shop only use a hot wash tank, no acid. Acid is BAD. It disolves stuff, like your skin!

As Sprocket says hot dip AFTER removing ALL of the oil plugs.... then using parafin and a set of bore brushes give it a good clean throughuntil it runs clear..... then clean it again to be sure

Also make sure the environment is clean all dirty objects are completely removed, ie no chance of something being flicked up into your clean engine :)

A major engine parts manufacturer has concluded that 46% of engine failures are caused by dirt or debris...

Judging from another thread... Probably because your mate who sold you the block, sprayed paint all over the mating surfaces, pistons and over the bores?

Just a guess...

Sorry for saying it, really just trying to help but reiterating how clean a engine needs to be before being re-built, no point doing a half assed job, especially if you're spending cash on it...
