hi

i dont know if this sort of thread has been started before (if it has then please delete this one)

there are so many members and so many years of experience i thought it would be a good idea to compile a list of useful tips and tricks for people (especially new drivers) to take into considerations and use for themselves.

so what have you learnt over the years?

the one that nearly everyone know is the clothes peg on the choke.

any others??

thanks

elliot

I just replaced the cable! :)

My top tip would be buy a haynes manual! The wiring diagrams are invaluable!

the clothes peg is that the choke cable is so prone to the locking mechanism breaking. that people pull out the choke and put a peg on there. this keeps it in the correct place and is a really cheap fix.

I only have to have my choke out for about 0.2 miles before I can reassuringly push it in. I love it. :P

Tips or tricks... hmm...

Try and learn which way the heater control works. Some Minis it's in for hot air, out for cold air. Some Minis it's the other way around.

Hell, mine just seems to blow hot air anyway. :)

Remembering to put heater control to Off instead of leaving it on Car or Screen. It took me about 4 months to realise it had off if it had an off/on switch too. It still doesn't make sense, but now I know that off+off=off :)
