The on/off switch is for the blower. When the switch is in the off position, but you have the other switch on car or screen, it means the air will be pushed through via the car going forwards. Which I use now and again because the blower is bloody noisy!Remembering to put heater control to Off instead of leaving it on Car or Screen. It took me about 4 months to realise it had off if it had an off/on switch too. It still doesn't make sense, but now I know that off+off=off
