I have searched all of the previous threads but can't find an exact answer.

What is the difference between the Metro anf Mini driving flanges that makes it necessary to use the metro ones when adding 4 pot calipers?

If its a case of the mini flange is too thick, can it not be machined down?

If its a case of the mini flange is too thin, can spacers be used?

cheers
Welshy

The flange controls the offset of the disk on the hub and no so much the wheel...

If you use a Mini flange with a metro disk the disk will not be in the middle of the caliper.

If thats the case then surely it would be possible to insert a spacer between the caliper and the hub of a calculated thickness and then use a longer caliper bolt if necessary.

This would would offset the caliper correctly (see rubbish attachment) without the need of a metro flange and you could still use the vented metro discs.

There must be a good reason why this can't be done because surely it must have been though of before.

Hello guys,

Digging up this old thread,
Just one question : can't a normal mini flange be machined (rear face) to fit a vented disc under 4pots?
Is that the only difference between Metro/Mini flanges?
Thanks,

Marc

It's a lot of work to do rather than just fitting a cheap Metro part. Do you really think weakening the drive flange is a good idea? I don't. This has come up before, this isn't the first old thread asking this question.

The Metro part needs machining too though, the wheel mounting lugs need machining off.

Can any one tell me if this is a metro driveflange or a mini unit for 7.5 disc brakes

The measurement across the flange is 1.8" (45.7mm)

I did this, seems to be working ok.
