The relay idea is a good one, but its too many belts and braces for three little bulbs.

Suspects at the moment are the lights switch (which has always been a bit tempermental) and the fuse box.
Be aware, when messing with Mini wiring, it's electrics are crappier than average.

If you remove the binnacle around the dials and disconnect the mutliplug and speedo cable and remove them for better access - on the mutliplug look for a wire that is green with a thin red line (hopefully BL/Rover haven't changed the wiring colours since the 70's!). This wire controls the power for the dash lights, splice into this one and job done!
Make sure you earth the circuit as well otherwise you'll get nowt! I used the brackets that hold my dials in place and all seems well and works nicely when I switch the headlights on.

One of them is a clock, any idea how to get a permanent live feed to it?
Cheers

Im now thinking of changing to LED lights to get them a bit brighter......

As for power for the clock, I took a feed directly off the fuse box under the bonnet.

Just found this topic, I am this week hopefully going to wire in my three extra gauges.
One of them is a clock, any idea how to get a permanent live feed to it?
Cheers
Take a permanent feed from either the fuse box or starter solenoid (which will need a suitable size fuse for the guage wire). Simples.
