Talk of the devil....my neighbour showed me his genuine magnesium minilites today. Talk about light!! 10 x 5.5's he ordered them from Minilite UK and as he has a machine shop here he told them not to machine them as he would do it here. My Minilite Ali mags are twice the weight of his. Thats a rough guess..I should go up and weigh them before he puts tyres on them. Cheers. Thanks, who makes it? I have Minilites on my van bought new in 1999. No one could afford the original extremely light minilites made for racing, I think they were about a thousand quid each back in the days....might be wrong. Cheers Kev.Just out of interest what is a Minilite replica?
It's a copy of a very light alloy wheel
no Idea who makes them - they are met black / grey at the moment - will be silver when I finish - maybe ???
Ironically the idea of Mag alloys was to keep the un-sprung weight down
I bought some cheap chin alloys for my other car a while ago and they are slightly heavier than the steel ones
but they look good
Nearly cleared the garage

Well I've got it today
seems better than I first thought
I will post photos
just took me 1 1/2 hrs to change the bypass hose
I'm sure it used to take me 10 min's years ago
the engine bottom end sounds dry / hollow - hopefully an alternator / water pump bearing
can't get the bearings to knock
the clutch is adjusted weird with hardly any movement
and gear selector is tight / hard to find 1st or 2nd
all fixable - so not too worried
I'm expecting this project to last a few years
the annoying bit is the roof , is in excellent condition , and that is the bit I am removing
