I'm just getting round to replacing the door steps (only patching) and the inner sills (again, only patching) and i just wondered if i'm cutting bits out, does the door frame need bracing or is that only if you remove inner and outer sills as well as the door step?
Cheers

I've just done the same on mine, repaired the step rather than replacing. I didn't brace it only because i didn't think it was necessary seing as i was only removing a small amount of metal at a time. It depends on how much you are removing and if there is still a substancial amount of metal around the area then i don't think you would need to brace it.

Well I cut all this out in one in a matter of 10 minutes...
Yes it flexed...not much... soon as I put it back on the floor it was fine
Theyre not as weak as you think!
But if you jack it up while your working on it, dont jack one side up and leave the other on the floor... or it will break.. lol... jack both sides up.

Sorry to drag this back up but i've just realised there are two different types of inner sill that can be bought. Ones with a cutout for the crossmember and ones without. Which ones should i use?
Cheers again.
