Ok decided to give my car the theme of a street/road racer...

plans are:

Engine: Morspeed 1293/1310/1330 highly tuned to produce 90bhp at the wheels...

Brakes: Minisport 4 pot calipers with vented and drilled disc and minifin/superfin drums on the back

Suspension: Keep the hi los and cones that are on but maybe lower a bit more, Gaz adjustble shocks with negative camber and adsutble tie rods.

Interior: Keep the buckets etc... Half roll cage, custom carbon fibre dash with magnolia clocks. Aluminium door cards with black anodised alloy handles

Wheels: either keep the current ones... or 10x6 deep dish minilites, or 10x7 mb split rims.

Anything else i should uprate aswell as the brakes or supsenion to match the engine??

Gear box is a must really, with central oil pickup and x-pin diff. Also what brake pads to you have planned? What spec have you got the engine planned at?

Not really sure yet as everything is up in the air lol

erm probably green stuff pads??

I was thinking of getting a 1380 but then i changed my mind and decided id rather put my money into getting a lower cc engine but with more goodies and something the can withstand a bit more.

What else would people say would be a must for a fast road mini? i think there must be some bits i havnt thought off... e.g. the non obvious (to me) bits like adjustble tie rods etc

/edit probably ask Guessworks to build me a gearbox that can withstand quite a bit of the heavy right foot and high revs

Problem...
you said you we're going for 4 pot's... I am 90% sure they WON'T fit under 10's....
So 12's or bigger...
Keep the dash you have now, its dribblishus!

dogmatix, sorry mate but you're mistaken! I have the 7.9" vented discs with 4pots from minisport and they fit under my 10" without issue!

they will not fit under Mambas or Reverse rims but will fit all others according to their support line!

minisport alloy 4 pots will fit under tens no problem mart, provided you get the 7.5 or 7.9'' discs.... its only 8.4's that wont fit under tens!

blackout-you really are best off going 1380 for power.... going 1380 isnt going to cost you any more than going +20/40/60 as your still going to need a rebore and a set of pistons......

i was going to go 1293, until i realised that 1380 would cost me pretty much the same (maybe £50more for better pistons)

a 1380 of a given spec is also FAR more friendly than a 1293 of teh same spec..... as the increased torque helps no end!

cams feel so different..... a 1293 with 296 cam is mad and horribly cammy, whereas a 1380 with a 296 cam is still pretty friendly and ok to drive on the road.....

as for wheels id say go with 6x10's and some nice subtle arches, proper 60's street racer style!

I've got the minisport 4pot under 10's. They fit now but i've had loads of hassle with em. They kept knocking on the tie rods and i had to change the spline's (sp) in the hubs so they would fit.

maybe not then...

So what engine would people recommend? i need something reliable as the mini is my everyday car, but i also want something torquy and around 90bhp at the wheels. Oh and something that can take a bit of punishment :cheese:

disagree slightly, as +60 21253 pistons are over 100 notes cheaper that 1/2 decent 73.5mm pistons..

yea.... ill agree there john, but £100? its nothing.... its not as if that £100 extra can buy him anything thatll give more power AND driveability than the jump up to 1380 is there?
