£100 is nothing  Can I have £100 then?

That could allow you to upgrade a cylinder head that little bit more, it can buy you an lightweight flywheel, decent set of rockers, pretty much camshaft, second hand webber, could be put towards straight cut drops, etc.

When I said they won't fit, I was refuring to 8.4" disks, not the smaller ones.... Sorry for the mix up.

to be honest don't go massive, and don't go small, go 1330  best of both worlds kinda.

Ok you won't get smoothness with a 286/296 cam as u would a 1380, but it still won't feel as cammy as a 1293.

Or save money and go turbo

What are you talking about? It all depends on the complete engine spec.

it does jammy yea.... but generally, a given cam will be smoother in a larger CC engine

for exmaple, a kent 296 in a 1293 will be HORRIBLY CAMMY, whereas a 1380 engine of the same spec with a 296 will be much smoother and far less cammy.

ive got a trackday cam in my 1380, which i was told would be pretty fierce.... but its as tame as they get! you could drive it in traffic all day long......

To throw a spanner in the works, my 1293 has a trackday (Morspeed phase 3 - repetudely 280 duration) cam, and isn't cammy at all - will pull from 1500rpm in any gear.

Ok - it won't blob along in 1st at tickover (1000rpm on mine), but anything above 1200rpm in first and it will pull nicely.

So many opinions and which to go for???

Well the current engine is now running achieved this by changing the headgasket, flushing radiator twice, adding a thermostat LOL changing the thermstat housing gasket and some other bits and peices.

Managed to break the choke though, and we couldnt find the nut and bolt that it uses to attatch to the choke lever arm thing so no choke atm...

Current plans are to add a Hif44 carb (hehe i got given one at work ) then take the car to the local a series dude who also has a rolling road, get the car tuned up and the engine running spot on.

Then going to book it into the spray shop to perfect the spray job on it, remove a couble of small dints and elimante all the body rust.

I can then think about uprating suspension to GAZ adjustables, lowering a bit more and start work on the dash design and new clocks etc.

So in the last week of owning the car me and a mate have:

Changed head gasket
fitted fan belt
fitted proper size studs to thermostat housing
fitted a thermostat!
fitted brand new thermostat housing gasket
fitted new radiator
fitted recon'd heater matrix
tightened exhuast and replaced one bracket
fixed the throttle cable
fitted a new choke cable
tuned carbs twice
fitted new rocker cover gasket
flushed radiator 3 times
removed brake disc covers
fitted brand new clutch slave cylinder
flushed clutch fluid.
adjusted passenger door catch

Things on my to buy list:

New shocks all round (woody has fitted lowered shocks to a non lowered car causing the bottom of the shock brackets to bend!)

Gear selector leaky thing kit from mini spares

Top hose, radiator mounting bracket and thermostat housing for a 1275, not the 998 stuff that is currently on.

Window seals front and back as these are wrong and leak

Future Plans

Fit the new carb ive bought and sell the twins, get the car rolling roaded and tuned accuratley.

Fit some pipes to take fresh air from wheel arches to heater matrix as these are currently missing and causing very cold feet!

General tidy up, and touch up of exterior and interior over the summer months

Garage car when winter comes and buy a run around, 306 or something...

Ok today after getting increasling annoyed by the quality of the previous rebuild i started to strip te mini!! :'(

So far ive taken off both engine steadys, top hose, thermostat housing (a 998cc one :S) and the radiator bracket (which is an alternator bracker :S).

The general plan is to strip everything and rebuild it, the final rebuild wont look too far off the original except for some 10" wheels and a bit here and there with also a 1380 lump ;D
