Thats exactly what happened The Legg - Got out my car at a whole 3mph to wave at a friend, in a completely deserted area with no pedestrians in sight. Wasn't causing a danger to anyone. Area was well lit, and about 3am so not much chance of there being other traffic. However, it was caught on CCTV. Ach well.

In mini news, new sump plug came, wont thread into sump. No sign of new sump yet, so I'm going to remove the current sump and weld a nut in place. Bingo!

We have nuts - and a clean license, PF laughed at my case and threw it out :)
 

So close now - the sump is back on and welded, the engine has been levelled - it's been bugging me since Kam pointed out that the engine was slightly squint, so I took the time to shim the one side a bit more. Wiring is sorted, new main relay and distributor is on. Just need to save some pennies, get some oil, then we can get her running. She's priming the tank off the key, which she wasn't doing before, so I'm pretty confident that I've sorted my starting issues :)

Completely earthed the engine. Got a length of heavy gauge wire and some terminals and got to work. Inlet manifold is earthed, gearbox is earthed, block is earthed and the rocker cover is earthed - that should do nicely! Going to fabricate a battery tray to hold the battery still in the back, with my plans for a carbon fibre boot floor, she cant go in there, so it'll have to go on what was the rear bench! Might actually invest in an odyssey battery and put it under the bench :)

Can't believe you got away with that Jamie! You should've been locked up with the key thrown away for showing such utter disregard doing 3mph at 3am in a deserted well lit area!

Just thought I should leave you guys a wee update on this since you guys are decent enough to keep in touch regarding the project...

I unexpectedly had to move last summer, meaning the mini was 200 miles away, therefore as you'd imagine - not much work got done... Anyway, I'm home now and about to start doing a wee bit of work on the toy! My civic is now running a full stainless exhaust straight through exhaust with b-pipe delete and decat, RBC intake, 70mm TB and k-pro. It's running about 250bhp NA and still has vtec... its REALLY given me the itch to get the mini running and have a proper blast!

Speaking on behalf of Jamie (hope he doesnt mind) it was sold last year i believe. I seen a post and pictures on facebook of it on the back of a flat bed.
