get down to halfords and get some exhaust paste/putty think it is a fiver

gun gum is good stuff, just try not to get it on your hands.
but with any sealant run your engine for a while to warm up the exhaust and then switch it off. with the exhaust pipes warm it will set quicker, make sure to seal it well and leave it overnight for best results, as if it is slightly tacky when u drive it you will only make holes in it which kinda defeats the object.

what can i use to seal the joints in my exhaust.
Only use this on joints from the cat (if fitted) back
Don’t use on the manifold
I've found copper grease works well on these
Also don't go over kill just the mating surfaces and try not to get any inside the exhaust
As if it isn’t fired out back it will get stuck in the rear box and rattle
