Water based needs an oven to bake it. Not really suitable for home use.

Celly, as Shifty says, or synthetic enamel (Truckcoat), which will be cheaper, are best suited to home use. I've used both, but still wouldn't like to spray either without my air-fed.

Kit and materials wise, Set a budget of 450 pounds if you don`t have a decent compressor. Ie at least 3hp 100L.

You can get away with 300 pounds for everything else though

no you dont not really, i have spary a couple of mini a couple of fiesta's and my old 106 using a 50 liter 2hp compressor and a aldi own 25 liter 3hp compressor i use the one with the bigger tank to power the airfed mask then use the little aldi one to do the spray gun, its not ideal but it works within my budget, but now i have the money i will be buying a 200liter 3hp 15cfm compressor to go in my workshop

JTF were recently offering a 50 litre compressor for £49. Now that's got to be worth a punt!

You can spray water based at home, I've done it!!

Synthetic(or knacker laquer) as we used to call itis ok stuff, nice shine but can't be flatted and polished afterwards, what you spray is what you're left with!!

Celly would be your best option by far.
