Oh Dear!! Scott, why have you to be so good. I just feel so humbled when I see the standard of your work. Even the cleanliness of your parts is in a different league. That gear linkage repair is quite amazing. Or the fuse box. I just bunged mine in as it was! I just love watching your repairs. Thanks for even taking the time for such good photos. (Yes, even his photos are beyond high standard!)

Kindest wishes, Hugh

I think hugh likes his work you know :shifty:

Your attention to detail puts me to shame. I've restored a 1976 Mini for my daughter but my level of effort has been based on the value of the car. Hence the door gaps are not that good and the general fitment of the other panels is just ok, nothing more. I also own an e-type and given the worth of that car I will ensure that I put the time and effort into it as it will be worth ten times that of the Mini.

Good work though :)

Paul.

Thanks guys. Actually, after a long time of very little work and no updates, this has now just been painted and is starting to go back together. I'll try and get pictures up by the weekend if I get time. Thanks for reading.

It's amazing. Great work.

Nice work with the doors! I was fortunate not to have to adjust mine.

Keep it up!

So its been a long time since I last did a proper update on this. The shell has now been painted and so here are a few pictures of the process.

Part one, priming and stone chip.

The shell was taken to the body shop where it had the final prep work done and any filler work as required. It was then primed inside and out and the out side had a thin black guide coat applied ready for sanding.

Shell was then put on the spit to allow the underside to be stone chipped.

The underside was primed and then seam sealed and masked off ready for the stone chip.

Stone chip on.

Part two, painting the under side and inside. Paint is Leyland White (Ermine White) BLVC243.

The underside in paint. Picture is a bit dark as it was taken in the oven with the lights off.
