I built an engine to this spec, it was very nippy. Around the 95bhp mark. Love the bike carbs.

If they dont fit under the bonnet, set the bonnet on bonnet pins and have it lifted up at the back? Might be something to think about, but i think youll be ok.

Thank mate :) I would love to be getting that sort of power out of it, not 100% sure on what steps to take but I'm getting there :)

Are the valves ok? They look a bit pitted around the edges on 1...2..and 4..I suppose so long as they seal well it will be ok... but if it were me id be looking at fitting new ones..

Think of them as modern day s.u carbs, great and more constant torque curve with less flat spots. Also when set up right I have seen evidence of up to 8bhp increase. And in a mini every little helps

Now have the engine to 1330 with ae pistons fitted to crank ready to go, also fitted with turbo fuel pump and a cam change to a crane vp3c, inbetween a 276 and a 286, head is also stripped ready to be cleaned so i can re lap in the valves. Just after some straight cut drop gears :)

Any questions just ask. Cheers tom

project re started about 3 weeks ago now i have the time for it :azn:

pulled the engine out as you do, made the most of the weather in that blistering week of heat.

Posted Image

got the car into the barn and made myself a nice work area free from ******* chickens!!

Posted Image

sent the head down to mja engineering where he acid dipped it and removed carbon. got it back in a day which i didn't expect as he said he was really busy, recommend him to anyone. also then lapped in all the valves was a good thing to learn as i have never done it before. painted and pop the old 1:5:1 roller rockers on for affect, look pretty sweet.

Posted Image

stripped my 1275 down and sold really quickly, should be flying around in some auto grass car by now
and got hold a fresh 1330 short engine all balanced with ae pistons.(the blue one)

Posted Image

pretty much took everything to work to clean and paint :big grin: nothing escaped lol. fitted cam shaft (vp3c) with turbo oil pump and uprated cam followers. and now it looks like this :azn:

Posted Image

looks pretty smart don't you reckon? :tongue2:

and gave the engine bay a bit on a clean and a lick of paint and ******* out the horrible dirty sound deadening.

will post more soon.

hughzy.
