And that is an A series ( small idler ) box, manual with a SCCR Gearset, and you can see from the idler face on the gearbox case, it's had it...

Not sure from them but could also be a remote box, but seems to have some added bits in the other end ???

are you sure?

Can you get straight cut automatic gears? as the gears are definantly stright cut but i was told in an autobox so now a little confused. The box looks a little modified with bits grinded off it here there and everywhere. Ill try get some pics and post them.

Yes i am sure.

No straight cut auto gears. They are pretty unloved boxes...

The photos are from a pre A+ small idler box, have you the laygear as well to go with it?

There's pretty much no 'gears' as you would normally understand them in an autobox anyway! The Mini autobox is kind of a cross between a diff and a Laycock overdrive, it's a pretty remarkable design.

That gearcase is a bit tired in the idler gear department as GW says but you could rescue it by using a roller bearing conversion for the idler couldn't you GW?

You could go the timken route, but at 150 for the idler, let alone the cost of the primary and input gear aswell.. sledge hammer and walnut come to mind..

If it were a decent 3 stud A+ then maybe worth holding onto incase of emergency, but same with Dave... I've got A series cases stacked up outside

If I had not had a rush on in January, I would have built some A's up and taken them to Bingley to flog off just to get them out me way !

I have received some more pictures from Daniel, and will post below.

As suspected the box is a remote, and have suggested that it may be better to shy away from that if it's to be used in a turbo application, mainly because of the size of the nose on the 3rd motion and the smaller Pinion retaining nut, but also the fact that it's a weaker case than the A+, and a small idler on a turbo is not the ideal situation.
