I have a project where I am putting a Honda CB500 motorcycle engine into a little Aixam Microcar.
I have found a company that sells the reverse gearbox that promotive fit to there Mini R1 conversion.
Not cheap at £704 inc vat but I need it because of space restrictions (I need to mount the engine in reverse)
Could anyone who has a Promotive R1 Mini tell me how the gearbox is coupled to the gearbox shaft on the R1 motor, it looks like it is directly mounted???
Does it have any kind of joint to allow for small mis alignments???

Thanks

Andy

I believe the Pro Motives system keeps the standard toothed sprocket on the engine and uses a cup on the drive box that interlocks with the sprocket. It's a similar idea to a ring spanner but with more contract points. ;D

No there is no kind of joint to allow for misalignment, not sure how they deal with that potential issue.

They use one of these

with a 14 tooth sprocket fitted to the bike engine, there is a small amount of misaligment possible with these types of couplings.

Hi John
Here is the link to the company that sells the gearboxes, I rang them up and they have them made by another company........

It would be nice to find the actual company that makes them, cutting out the middle man :)

Why don't you speak to pro motive about the reverse gearbox, the gearbox that blitzworld supply looks like an inline reverse box in the picture, you would need to buy the box and then convert it. Go to pro motive and buy the box with the correct input and output fitted

I agree it doesn't cut the middle man as it where but at least it's the correct one

^^^ +1. I talked to Phil at Pro-Motive about this the other day. He told me to tell anyone that needed the gear box to ring them up. He can have it adapted to suit any bike engine application.
