Why cant you edit posts on the new forum layout? its really bloody annoying me as sometimes I make a spelling mistake and want to change but I can't. Seems a tad stupid to be honest. Well that or I cant for the life of me find the EDIT button.

Like now just after posting the above, I can edit it - Its a little greyed out button like the report button. But looking back at my older posts (a few hours old) I can't edit them?

Maybe you can only edit the post for a certain amount of time, before it effectively becomes locked.

Yeah id does get a little fustrating! I ended up editing a post the other day and went over the 15 minutes mark (I left it about 12 minutes before I decided to change it.) I added all the stuff I wanted to add (some extra pictures and text to go with them) and while doing so went over the 15minute mark! It wouldnt let me post what I had edited even thought I clicked the edit button within the 15mins! that was fustrating to say the least!

It does seem a bit harsh, going from unlimited edit time to a 15min window, especialy when members of the admin team can edit their own posts without this time limit. I dont mean to be picky or have a go at the admin team but surely something like a 24hr time limit would be better and makes allowances for being on a mobile phone and predictive text errors, spelling gafs, time to google a few facts and add to a post and most importantly vino/special brew evening posts  .....been there done that!

I think the trouble was people saying one thing, sparking off a bit of a row then going back editing what they said making the rest of the thread then void, Or the person claiming they didnt say what they did because they have edited the posts. What do the admin team do then? Delete everyone elses posts so the convo can start again from the person whos changed their post to suit themselves? Im sure everyone else who posted after wouldnt like that. The other option (which isnt really an option) is for the admin team to then go through and delete only what has become irrelivent since the other post was edited. To time consuming and again people wouldnt like that. Or just leave it and have the whole thread not making sense anymore.

It is annoying but I do understand the descion and think it will be useful in certain situations to have people locked out of their posts. It wont stop arguements but it would make it a lot easier to keep track of whats "been" said!

On another forum I went on, you could edit the post whenever you wanted, but it added a thing called edit history, so you can click it to see what's been changed etc.
