If you have the vernier timing pulleys, you can go back and dial the cam angle in. You can even do this without pulling the engine but it does mean taking out the radiator, front pulley, the timing cover, etc. With the head on the car it also represents a bit of a challenge finding exact TDC but it can be done with a dial indicator with a "wire" attached poking through the spark plug hole.

However, you said you had 140 PSI compression. That is a bit low but I can't remember if you said the rest of the engine was rebuilt. Regardless of the engine's overall condition, that compression is high enough that you should be able to start the engine if you have fuel and spark... even if the engine is not "healthy".

ok spent a while on it to day 1 problem was the fuel pump had packed in so changed that.

i got the cam timing as best as i could. dot to dot.

i have had her splutering but now the battery needs a charge then i will go back out again later to see, what will happen. thanks for all the help.

i think now it just a case of altering the ignition timing and we should be there.
