Hi All mini fans!
Just scrolling through the web and happen to come across this protest.
It is asking us to sign because they would like to restore the tax exemption to a rolling 30 years so once your vehicle hits 30 then its tax exempt. I thought this might be of interest to you all as driving classic minis. Please sign up and lets try and get this passed.
Thanks For reading folks!

There has been dozens of there, the problem with it is, there was talk of re-instating it. But to be classed as a historic vehicle, you will get a problem similar to listed buildings, so you cant modify.

Either way, these petitions don't work, even if there are 10 submitted every hour.

Not this again! :dozing:

The government will never change the tax exception laws on old vehicles, why would they?

They're focusing on new cars and the emissions. They don't care about a few enthusiasts who would like to not pay road tax anymore.

i can see them making this rolling again, but it's not all good

once your car is registered as historic they can then tell you when, where and how far you can drive

It us to be a rolling exception, until about 1997. Now it's anything registered before 1972.

The Tories introduced it, Labour froze it when they got. It was really a concession to rich boys toys, Lord Montagu was prominent in the original campaign, if it comes back it very likely will be on the terms of http://fbhvc.co.uk/ who have very different ideas to many Mini owners, be careful what you wish for.

Had a quick look at their website and it states:

The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs exists to uphold the freedom to use historic vehicles on the road.
The one thing that is more important to historic vehicle owners than anything else is the one thing that most take completely for granted, and that is the right to use them.
At present, provided a vehicle is road-legal, it may be used whenever the owner chooses, however old it is. FBHVC’s purpose is to keep it that way.'

I dont see that as being a million miles away from what I or other mini owners want?

:)

It's their idea of what an historic vehicle is and what you'd have to do to it to keep it historic - or not be able to do in particular.
