Make sure you lube up the plunger in the cover. These tend to sieze when left for a period of dis use causing the hard pedal that wont move syndrome. This may be partly the cause of your intitial slipping problem leading to the failure of the release bearing and thrust sleave. Clutch arm not fully returning to its normal position????

One point on the hydraulics though is there may be no sign of a leak on master cylinder, but the top working seal of the piston may be leaking, the fluid will just return to the resevoir rather than onto the floor in the car.

So if you depress the clutch pedal while keeping it depressed, and the clutch arm slowly creaps back, yet there is no sign of fluid anywhere, overhaul the master cylinder, but better still replace it.

Oh and as Dan says, get all the bits you need and replace what you need when you find out what is the fault

The anti judder springs were probably knackered for ages and you didn't notice as they take a real hammering in use. Dan is right, but, I broke these springs on my old cinquecento and the mashed up springs jammed between the clutch disc and the fly wheel, stopping it engaging properly and making a hell of a noise, sounded like a hundred empty cans spinning about very fast in a small space, music to a sadists ears I'm sure lol If it sounds bad and doesn't work then I'd go for damaged clutch plate, if it sounds ok then hydralics...

try bleeding the clutch!! if it wont bleed the the master cylinder could be clogged up with gunk internally!! they can sometimes be freed up with a tap tap other times they cant!!

defo sounds like hydraulic probs tho!! u say the arm moves about 4-5mm, it shud move about an inch or 2 at the cylinder end!!

i had similar problems not long ago, all came out of the blue.

i thought it was the realease bearing but i bled the clutch and puss coloured goo came out, with lots of bubbles. now its fine.

so defo bleed it first before you do anything else.

hmmm, arse. if it happens again i'll drain it and hopefully that'll sort it.

slave cylinder might be leaking anyway.

well this is what happens when someone actually uses the SEARCH button.

they find a usefull thread read it and then add to it as they are having the same problem.

can't have it all ways: start a bnew thread and get told to use SEARCH or use Search and add to an older thread and get questioned why someone has added to an old thread.

I applaud Danny Mini 30 for using SEARCH. BRAVO indeed!!

i dont know really just got a new clutch put in and it worked. donno what was actuall wrong though?

I am having simmilar issues,

i replaced the clutch and primary oil seal, once all back together i couldn't get the mini into gear, assuming it was the push stop thingy, i adjusted it out so that the arm could push as far as it wanted to still no joy.

Bled the system, no joy.

replaced the Slave cylinder this morning, still no joy. bled again and getting air in the system.
Have picked up a master cylinder, and am hoping to fit that in the morning, if i am still having no joy i am stuck, really stuck.
When engine is stopped i can put in gear, when engine running i can't get into any gear (except revers with a bit of grinding, ooops. the clutch wasn't disconnecting properly as she wanted to reverse a little too.) I am guessing that i have replaced the clutch correctly, and it must be hydraulic.
