I agree with you Doug, but I don't see why you are dividing by 4: the pressure will be the same throughout the system and equal to whatever is on the pedal times by the mechanical advantage, divided by the master's piston area. However, if the bleed screw doesn't seat it will leak through itself so the pressure area the thread has to resist is just the hole in to the caliper - tiny.

thanks for the Ebay link, I could actually use one of those - I knew they existed but couldn't find any online.

I could also be tempted to put some in alloy calipers

Thanks Ethel.

The division by 4 was not because the car has 4 wheels/brakes. It is part of the formula for determining area
(Rad.^2) x Pi, or (Dia.^2) x Pi/4
Once you have the area, you multiply by the pressure to obtain force.

I haven't had chance to bleed the system just yet as I've been busy sorting some electrical gremlins but they're all sorted now so I shall hopefully bleed the system this weekend and report back on the result! I've already cleaned out the thread and got new bleed nipples, just need to see if that worked and theres no leaks! Fingers crossed :proud:

Sorry been quite slow getting back to you all about this, been really busy so haven't had chance to bleed the system. Did it last night though, and I am glad to say there is no leaks when pressed down as hard as possible! :D I will keep an eye on it though. Thanks for everyone's help!
