Hi, I have just bought a 1986 Mayfair, guy said the clutch wasnt working, however once we had bled it all appeared well...however :0)

Drive is working well on the passanger side but not on the drivers side, Upon closer inspection , when you turn the passanger wheel as if moving forward the drivers side turns in reverse,

Anyone have any ideas what maybe causing this??

Many thanks in advance.

when you turn the passenger wheel one direction and the wheel goes in the other thats the differential unit working in the gearbox.when you turnone wheel one way you also turnone of the output planet gears in the same direction, this inturn turns the smaller gears that sit 90 degrees from the original one you ae spinning. the smaller gear then turns the other driveshaft output shaft in the opposite direction turning the othe wheel in reverse. quite a clever bit of kit but so simple when ou look at one.
