At the moment I am running on 4.5X12 origonal wheels with 165 60 12 tyres. My question is if i fit theese 5x12 rims with 165 60 12 tyres will they rub.

I would say so yes, I used to run prettyy much the same wheel I think and they did. You shouldn't have to remove too much material from the wings to prevent them from catching (Y)

correct me if im wrong but i thought that 5x12 would go under and not rub. i didn't think you needed to mod the arches or cut the wing until you got to 6x12.

Certain wheels with a 5" width may fit without modification but the wheels in question have quite a bit of offset too, therefore pushing the outer edge of the wheel further out.

With wheels it is not simply the case of certain widths fit with or without modifications, other aspects like offset play a part in it

I had 12x5 with 165/60 tyres and they fitted on my mayfair fine and never touched. They were ultralites though.

I've got some 12x5.5 on there at the moment with a bit more offset and they only just touch when turning.
