Ring the police station and see what they suggest. They may not need to keep the licence.

You'd have every right to challenge it if you thought it was wrong, but if you know you were speeding you won't do better than an automatic 3 points 'n 60 quid.

I recall Juju was in the same boat on the BH2N run, you should get an extension to the auto penalty period. Not sure if it's the DVLA or the police that sort it, but the police ought to know.

I know i have the right but at the end of the day silly mistake must behave for 9 months longer as i can only get 3 more points then lose my license!!. The police was very good about it all on the phone i mentioned that i was going to the states in a couple of days and really need my licdnse and counter part, and they put me on to there boss i had a little chat told them i will bring it in the day i land in the uk they where more than happy! woop woop

Theres always the old tricks of asking to see the documentation that supports when the gun was last serviced etc. If its not been done within a certain period of time then they have to canx the ticket. Always worth a try? Do a little googling.

You should fight it. Its also always said that if just 10% of people who got speeding fines went to fight them rather than accept them and pay them then the whole system would collopase, as they dont have enough resources to deal with it all.

Yep, I had the same issue back in 2009.

You know you were speeding. You were caught. I was too.

Don't fight it, just cough up. They've given you an extension on you 14 day response time, they didn't have to, but it makes your life easier, so just play by the rules.

If you contest it, and it goes to Mag's court, and you lose, you get twice the penalty points, which for you, would decrease your mobility somewhat.

The resources they do have is paid for by us. All of us. Don't waste taxpayers' money trying to fight on a technicality when you know you have broken the law & have been caught red-handed.

Thats why i am not bothering i was not driving like a tit i thought i was just over 50 (mainly because thought the speed limit was 50) all them times i drove mini round roundabout flat out on two wheels racing boy racer drivin like a tit when i got my license never got pulled!!! not have the mondeo that i cruise everywhere i go get collard!, o well my fault take it on the chin and get on with it!!!! i am more angry with myself than anything else tho because i should no bloody better.

when i got pulled and was talking to the policeman he said hand your counter part and license into your station i felt so sick it was unreal thought i lost the once in a lifetime holiday with the misses just by driving to quick, ive worked non stop for nearly 2 years saving cashing up 500 quid a month into the holiday fund bearing in mind me and the gf only earn 1900 a month and have our own place so we have both worked so hard for it and it could of been over in 1min ! well i wont be doing that again cant risk it!

thanks scott

I felt exactly the same. Cutting it so fine with a trip of a lifetime just makes you even more exasperated with your own behaviour. Ah well. It's a lesson, isn't it?

Enjoy the trip & the pony! I am jealous. I would love to do Route 66 in a '66 fastback. :gimme:
