The resources they do have is paid for by us. All of us. Don't waste taxpayers' money trying to fight on a technicality when you know you have broken the law & have been caught red-handed.

yeah fair point

Theres always the old tricks of asking to see the documentation that supports when the gun was last serviced etc. If its not been done within a certain period of time then they have to canx the ticket. Always worth a try? Do a little googling.

You should fight it. Its also always said that if just 10% of people who got speeding fines went to fight them rather than accept them and pay them then the whole system would collopase, as they dont have enough resources to deal with it all.

If you get caught, and you are convinced you weren't speeding, then fair enough challenge it. But if you know you were speeding, take it on the chin, lesson learnt and don't do it again. I'm not a big fan of people trying to worm out of punishments when they were guilty. Its a better person that takes it on the chin than tries to fight everything because they believe they should be exempt from laws, be it speeding or whatever.

Yep, I had the same issue back in 2009.

You know you were speeding. You were caught. I was too.

Don't fight it, just cough up. They've given you an extension on you 14 day response time, they didn't have to, but it makes your life easier, so just play by the rules.

If you contest it, and it goes to Mag's court, and you lose, you get twice the penalty points, which for you, would decrease your mobility somewhat.

Well said Juju.

Thats why i am not bothering i was not driving like a tit i thought i was just over 50 (mainly because thought the speed limit was 50) all them times i drove mini round roundabout flat out on two wheels racing boy racer drivin like a tit when i got my license never got pulled!!! not have the mondeo that i cruise everywhere i go get collard!, o well my fault take it on the chin and get on with it!!!! i am more angry with myself than anything else tho because i should no bloody better.

when i got pulled and was talking to the policeman he said hand your counter part and license into your station i felt so sick it was unreal thought i lost the once in a lifetime holiday with the misses just by driving to quick, ive worked non stop for nearly 2 years saving cashing up 500 quid a month into the holiday fund bearing in mind me and the gf only earn 1900 a month and have our own place so we have both worked so hard for it and it could of been over in 1min ! well i wont be doing that again cant risk it!

thanks scott

Call it Karma, call it whatever you want. But at least you are doing the decent thing and not fighting it. And the police didn't have to give you the extension. But enjoy the trip - should be awesome. HAHA The gf would have been somewhat annoyed, I would imagine, if you got home and told her you had to cancel the whole lot.

One thing to bear in mind if you challenge the camera calibration/camera set-up etc. This takes it out of the Police's hands and you are then taking on the Home office. They have very very clever experts (who you will NOT have access to) and will generally disprove your evidence and it will cost you a lot more than £60 and 3 points.

The chances of actually making something like this stick to the camera operator is very unlikely as they have to go through specific set-up guidelines each day. Provided the camera is still calibrated (which is done annually) your chance of "getting off on a technicality" are between slim and none. And Slim has left town.

Just my 2p's worth :trooper:

I'm sorry mate but I can't help but read that and think you need to sort out your priorities.

You make out like speeding is only a small thing, when you were doing 13MPH over the speed limit you thought it was and 23MPH over the actual speed limit. That's 50% over the limit, I'm suprised you got away with points and a fine!

The thing that really rattles my cage though is that speed limits are there for a reason, it's 50 in that area to make sure you've got a good chance of stopping should something happen and there be someone in the road. You almost lost a holiday, sure, but someone could have lost their life because you think speeding is such a light offence.

While I'm here. Stop using text speak, it's against the forum rules.

Provided the camera is still calibrated (which is done annually)

Camera's are actually calibrated every single day of use. All police stations have a point where the camera is tested. First of all check the batteries. They will stand 30m (i think thats the distance) away and compare that with the gun, if the gun is out by the smallest of margins it's not used. They will then test the movement along the X and Y axis before then going out.

The guns do have an expiration date but that is clearly marked and you'd be hard pressed to forget to check that.

Beside if you want to challenge them on technicalities, be prepared for them to tear you a new one every time they see your car.

But like you've said, you've admitted it and accepted it. Just be lucky you only got 3 points and £60. 20mph over more often than not results in a court summons and would probably see you lose your licence.
