Carefull; Verto and non-verto are the same thread, but different lengths.

Non verto is 3/8 UNC x 1 1/4"
verto is 3/8 UNC x 1"

If you were to use the 1 1/4" in the verto bracket, the bolt (screw) could be too long, and poke into the flywheel teeth, and lock the engine.

Hi,

As a basic rule, anything going into aluminum is UNC (coarse thread). If UNF (fine thread) is used then it has a greater possibility of stripping the aluminum.

UNF Fine threads are generally used whenever a nut is used as they give finer control when applying torque.

There are many exceptions e.g. manifold studs which are UNC into the head and UNF to the nuts even though the head is steel and not ally.

Just to confirm something here,

1) 3/8" UNC x 1.25" long for pre verto slave cylinder to transfer housing
2) 3/8" UNC x 1" long for verto slave cylinder BRACKET to transfer housing
3) 3/8" UNF x 1" long for verto slave cylinder to BRACKET.
4) 1/4" UNF x 1.5" long Verto bracket support bolt to clutch cover or WOK

The reasoin UNC isi used in the head is because CAST IRON is a "course" grain material the same as aluminium.
Although you will find that UNC & UNF are both used in to the head casting, poor design ??

And fo rth erecord the manifold studs are UNF at both ends.

I'm very sure the manifold studs are unc into the block and unf the other end

But there is no hard and fast rule

All inlet/exhaust manifold studs on all classic Minis are 5/16" UNF into the head. I always replace these with 5/16" UNF x 1.25" long bolts so that the head gasket can be changed without undoing the exhaust pipe from the manifold.

This is a thread diversion - just went out and took a look - UNF into the head and UNC the other end (the nut end).....what a mess...

Great idea!

sorry i misspelled i wanted to put bracket but my phone changed it, and its veto, I don't think so, the bolt goes on the bracket of the clutch slave cylinder and through a sleeve i think its about an inch long.
