£400 is penlty for a nice system, and LOADS if you buy secondhand.
Source unit.. 150
4 channel amp... 100
Comps... 75
Sub... 75

I'm on mobile at the moment, can someone check if you can at least view the classiffieds on Talkaudio without an account? As that is a great place to look for great kit at great money...

My Seas sub was from a TA ad, it was never used by the first owner. RRP £500 Picked it up for 80!

I'm already registered over there :)

Taken a peek, doesn't seem to be much to be honest. I'll keep an eye out.

What do you think the minimum I could do it at a reasonable standard for would be? Thinking along the lines of the less I spend on ICE the more I have to get other things I'd like done, like the seats re-covered.

I'm also on mobile. :(. But it's only 5 mins to sign up on Talk Audio.

Are you willing to go 2nd hand?. The guys on TA are pretty good - ebay can be a risk though.

What ruckus has said is a nice simple setup.

4ch amp - two for the comps (on passive cross overs) and the other two bridged for a sub.

Where would you be putting a sub?.

EDIT: just read your latest post - you could offset costs by getting a sub at a later date.

For example:

This amp even has a tube pre amp!! Wonderful sound.

Nice old skool DVC sub to go with that amp.

Comps

Headunit even had a Bluetooth module (kind of!).

Thanks Ruckus, I think the reason I couldn't see anything was I don't have a clue what any of the models are etc :)

Under the rear seats is the only viable option I can see that doesn't encroach on valuble boot space, I'm thinking 6x9's on a crossover?

That sub would work in a right hand boot install.
Take a look at my latest build thread to see how mines looks/was built. :)

I've got a later Mini, which means my washer bottle's there :( Good idea though, I'll have a poke around and see if I can find somewhere else to put it.

Did you put it back under the bonnet? I'd do the same, if it wasn't so horrifyingly cramped under there :ohno:

I used a different bottle and hid it under the plastic insert in the driver side rear bin. ;)
