To be honest I'd like some details from the OP about his info, especially after seeing the turbominis thread as well.

If MRA have wronged you then please provide me with the details and I'll see what we can do to help.

At the moment theres no info to go on.

I've been reading this thread with interest. As the thread is a bit light on facts, I will share what I know. This information is all in the public domain and I do have documentary evidence to support it.

MRA Engineering Ltd (Company No: 05017197) is in Liquidation. This is the company that traded as MRA Minis. It's directors were Martin Altria, Kevin Altria and Deborah Altria.

At the point the company went into liquidation two CCJ's were outstanding, totalling £3975.
1. Date: 30/09/2011 Amount: £607 Case No: 1QL95404 Court: Northampton CCBC
2. Date: 14/10/2011 Amount: £3,368 Case No: 1GL01980 Court: Gloucester

MRA Minis continues to trade, but now as part of a different limited company (see the "contact" details on the web site www.mra-minis.co.uk). This company is Airport Line Ltd (Company No: 07824578), which appears to be a buy-off-the-shelf limited company incorporated on 26/10/2011. The directors have not been fully set up at this moment in time. All of the other addresses and telephone numbers remain the same as before.

From this thread and one on Turbo Minis it appears that MRA have at least two dissatisfied customers, three if you include me. One of these dissatisfied customers has taken MRA Engineering Ltd to court and won (possibly one of the CCJ's listed above).

So where do I come in? Here's a factual summary of my story so far...
  • On September 14 I delivered my Mini to MRA to have the automatic transmission rebuilt. A price had been agreed and a schedule of 'up to 4 weeks' for the work. Today we are more than 9 weeks on and I do not have the car back.
  • On October 1 I did get a progress report from MRA indicating that everything was on track.
  • I spent then next 5 or 6 weeks trying to get hold of MRA for an update using PM's on here, telephone calls and text messages, but could not get a response from any of them.
  • I then discovered that MRA Engineering Ltd was in liquidation and asked for some help from the TMF Team. Sean (shifty) got involved and did get some results.
  • Martin rang next day and informed me that all of MRA's commitments would be met and that my job would be completed in a further 3 weeks (making 11 weeks in total). That's a week and a half from today. We shall see.
If anyone else is having problems with MRA then I would recommend that you contact shifty.

I do hope that Martin will read this thread and let us all know what's happening from his viewpoint.

Thanks Paul, that's a very fair and factual account of what happened.

I don't know what the CCJ's were for but I am certain that they were nothing to do with the Turbo-minis complaint.

I'm still awaiting details from the poster on his complaint, we(TMF) are here to help and MRA although they are(obviously) having issues are doing their best to fullfil their commitments.

I really would like to hear the full details of MK-johns complaint ASAP, I will happily do my best to mediate and get things moving forward.

Great how you have listed in order everything.
I could do the same, but cant be bothered to waste energy tonight on writing on MRA (Due to my hangover still inflicting me from last night!)

Just to say that after the ordeal I went through with my engine build from MRA, I am glad I took my engine to another builder.

ShoutforJoy, On your week and half from today, i wouldn't hold my breath.
At some point during the MRA build of my engine, I was told it was ready for collection, when i turned up, Martin was still assembling the piston and con rods etc!!

Total joke.

Actually, one of the CCJ's is for the turbomini complaint. The guy who owns the engine is in Kettering, close by.

I think if the CCJ above (smaller amount) is not from the turbo mini guy, then there will likely be a third CCJ very soon.

Rick-SPI won his court case, and the court ordered MRA Engineering to pay up.

It gets better...........the 2 main creditors in the liquidation is Martin himself (Director one), and someone else with a very similar name.

Now MRA in liquidation................not a coincidence to losing a coutcase and being ordered to pay up surely!!

I don't think ricks even got as far as court?

His first post in turbo minis says as much?

Right ive put all my case together to take him to court, handed it in, payed the court fees. Now heres the annoying bit, i got a letter from a firm basically saying he in liquidation and i have to apply to them for a meeting to try and get a percentage of what he owes me back.

If the liquidators find that money is owed then he will recieve a payout.

Its really not my place to say why MRA went into liquidation, but I can say that this wasn't the reason.

Ouch this sounds very complicated.

I think maybe from what I can see

The shop part of the business is quite efficient and there are happy customers - just look on here and see the raving reviews.

However, the machining and engine/gearbox end of things, there is a problem that people have had to go through.

I wonder if the two sides of the business where run by different people (partners)

Thus, the shop is still running, and trading under the same name, but not the same company

Yes, he won. I have a lot more information which I am keeping to myself after weeks of digging around.

For the time being I just await people to PM me for full details of this stuff.
