if not the door and you really want to have them flush/out of the way:
Use low profile comps (focal make some)
or
Cut the kick wells and use stainless bowl or weld in boxes.

or
Go for a center dial dash and mount them either-side of the dash.

Putting them in the doors works fine - particularly if you have a tweet up on the dash. Not overly keen on having them by your feet, not sure I like the way it looks either. I think door cards could be a possibility. Is there no where anyone has tried which makes them a little more discreet?
Thanks
For discreet - there's not much hope whilst still keeping optimal positioning
If your speakers were smaller you could go behind the air vents - this would be discrete - but it don't work for what you have.
One idea I have is to have them in the same location as mine (linked thread) but recessed back as ruckus's are (look in the build section - son of ruckus).
These would be fully out of the way - and you could cover them in a special carpet (designed for speakers) to make them near invisible - this would be true stealth - but a lot of work
Edit - you beat me to it ruckus!

You - "Yes my agreed value for the car is £2000"
Insurer - "The value of any stereo equipment Sir?"
You - "Actually, yes, my stereo is worth £10,000"
Insurer - "Thanks for your call Sir, have a nice day"
You - "Hello? . . . Hello? . . . "

I'm actually just doing a case study with Adrian Flux on ICE insurance it should be in there inFlux magazine thing in a few months.
But this thing is do do those speakers justices the rest of the system needs to be on par... otherwise the extra 10% they give over say £600 to £1000 set is lost.
So that would be something like.
Headunit, processor and CD changer: Alpine #F1 or Pioneer ODR ... 10k
4 (fully active) Amps: Audio Wave, Genesis or Sinfoni .... 10k
Sub: Focal, JLW7 or Morel ...... £500
Cables connectors and the 'Install'.......... $5000+
So with the speakers lets call it a nice round £30k....

My system cost me under £600 (incl wiring etc) & as you know Ruckus, I got 2nd equal at SMD'11. I'm just starting work on my shell so have ripped it all out, so expect it to be bigger & better next time you see it.
