Hi thought its about time i started a project thread for this car.
I bought it originaly about 3 years ago as a project car which had been off the road for about 6 years but had a recon 1098cc engine in it.
I then learnt to work on cars on it and did a full rebuild including having it resprayed
which got it on the road just in time for brooklands at the start of this year.
I then decided that it was too slow so i built up a 1275 with 286 cam and megajolt
i got it back on the road again just in time to make it on the brands hatch to nurburgring retro run (www.retrorun.co.uk) and managed a couple of laps whilst there although i had issues with an oil leak effecting the brakes so spent half my time there working on the car.
However on the run back home from the ring we were making really good time to make the early ferry back when disaster struck and i killed the engine on a belgian motorway.
I managed to get the car recovered home using several trucks and then had the dilema of what to do next.... Until whilst browsing ebay i came across this
so i bought it and this happened
then
and thats the story so far.

You can see in the pic the wings have been cut on the rad side halfway up and on the otherside most the wing is removed as the cam belt sits under it
Cheers Craig
Yeah the engine is a bit pissed at the moment but its not fully bolted in etc so hopefully that will help and if not ill have to try and adjust the angle a bit

oi this is me working hard at it
been out this morning and run the fuel line iv run an 8mm line for the feed and plan to use the original mini one as the return.
Also dug out a gearbox that i got with the engine and subframe anyone know what it is? and would it be worth using instead of my current one as the starter would mount in easier and the clutch slave setup will be easier?

I think that looks like a PG1 gearbox, most people opt to fit the R65 gearbox because of its size.

i was wondering that but it looks roughly the same size :s also trying to work out the clutch slave as its a cable change atm so i bought a wilwood pull type slave but it wont fit as the engine mounts in the way
and the starter wont fit unless i get an expensive brise 1 or work out modding the standard one

Only thing i will say is i have never looked back since converting to a cable clutch, no more faffing about with bleeding it etc, pop the cable in and done.you should be able to rob a cable arm from another box and just weld some pipe in the bulkhead for the cable to sit in.

iv got a cable arm on there at the moment i was going for hydrolic as i know that "The Matt" had issues with his cable clutch and ended up converting.... how do you attatch your cable to the pedal?

I made a new clutch pedal by copying this picture

Looks the same as the pedal i've made, just remember to brace the bulkhead where the cable passes though as it'll flex load when you engage the clutch.
As for the gearbox fitting in the allspeed frame, think the problem would be finding the correct mounts.
